At the dental office of Dr. Joseph Thornton, we cater to the needs of the removable prosthetic (denture and partial denture) and implant restoration patient. Our mission, simply stated, is to provide the highest level of removable prosthetic treatment possible.
There are few offices catering to the needs of the removable prosthetic patient. Most of these patients are being treated by denture centers, where dentures are produced quickly and in large quantities, with little individual attention given to the patient. While this type of treatment works for some patients, some patients who are missing teeth desire or need more.
It is our goal to determine the patient's needs and desires, and then determine the best treatment options. This is accomplished by spending time with the patient at the first (examination and interview) appointment. Once options are determined, they are explained as fully as possible. When a treatment option is decided upon, the sequence and timing is determined, again with input as to the patient's needs and desires.
I have practiced General Dentistry in Gwinnett County since 1979. In 2000, I elected to focus my practice on treatment of the edentulous / partially edentulous patient. As a result of this commitment, I have attended numerous courses by the major leaders in the field.
I was mentored by Dr. Joseph Massad in Tulsa Oklahoma. Dr. Massad is recognized worldwide as one of the leading authorities in treatment of patients who have been devastated by tooth loss.
I have since been honored to teach alongside Dr. Massad, in courses throughout North America. I have also taught alone, and also with my good friend and collegue Dr. Bill Lobel, at many prominent dental meetings.
I have lived in the greater Atlanta area my entire life. My wife, Holly, and I are the proud parents of two, and very proud grandparents of two!
Jeannie has been the office coordinator and primary dental assistant since 2000. She is instrumental in treating and communicating with our patients.
Through her working with our patients, as well as assisting in various teaching courses, she has developed a keen insight and understanding of the removable prosthodontic patient. She is well versed in our procedures and practices, and always ready to answer any questions, whether about clinical needs or financial/insurance questions.
Jeannie lives in Grayson, with her husband Ed. They are blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren
Due to the specialized nature of our treatments, we are not in network for any insurance plans. The patient is responsible for payment.
That having been said, we always want our patients to maximize their insurance benefits for treatment. We can get an insurance benefit estimate from your insurance, and inform you as to how much they will pay toward your care. In that way, you can be fully informed of your financial commitment.
We accept payment from all major credit cards and via check. We are able to split the cost into as many as 3 monthly payments, and have access to outside sources for longer term payments.

This is approximaately .4 miles from the main intersection in Snellville, Highway 78 and Highway 124 (Scenic Highway). Our building is a one story, red brick office building.
